USBC Youth members cannot bowl in events with doubles, trios, four-player or five-player teams where cash prizes are awarded even after signing a prize waiver. While the waiver allows youth to compete in singles events that offer cash prizes, the youth still can't accept any cash.
The USBC Singles Competition Prize Waiver only applies to singles events. It does not allow USBC Youth to bowl in multiple player team tournaments or leagues - certified or otherwise - that give any participants cash prizes.
What does the USBC Prize Waiver Do?
Allows youth to bowl in SINGLES (one person team format) tournaments that offer cash prizes
Allows youth to bowl in SINGLES (one person team format) leagues that offer cash prizes
If agreed to by the singles format league or tournament prior to participation, the youth may be issued a scholarship administered through the USBC SMART Program in lieu of the cash prize.
Although the waiver does allow youth to participate in SINGLES events and maintain USBC Youth eligibility, student-athletes in any sport should contact their school's athletic director or their state high school athletic association for rules regarding eligibility for interscholastic athletics.
